Corinna, you are a web developer. Why are you using Blogger instead of running your own site?
Good question! The truth is that maintaining a CMS like Drupal, Wordpress, or Joomla is time consuming. More than once I've setup a CMS, added a few pages, and then left it alone for a few months to come back and discover that I'd missed a security update (or that my provider had been hacked) and that there'd be a backlog of crud I'd have to clean up.
Keeping a website up-to-date takes work. Designing a website takes work. If I have to work I'd rather spend my time more productively. So instead of spending time maintaining a website, I can use that time to learn new JavaScript frameworks, or Objective C, or whatever.
So why Blogger instead of tumblr or anything else? Blogger is part of the Googlesphere. It's easy for me to update my blog, add features, monitor traffic, and so forth. It's not cutting edge, but who needs it to be? It does what it needs to.
Pragmatism is its own reward.
This is exactly why my blogs are in blogger too - just simpler and looks like fine.
